General Practice Healthcare Centre Neurology department treats all brain spinal cord disorders and conditions. There is a strong focus on collaborating with other departments in the hospital to provide comprehensive care for patients with conditions that affect the brain and spinal cord.
The neurology department may work alongside the neurosurgery hospital department to diagnose and treat conditions such as benign and malignant tumors, adult and pediatric hydrocephalus, and cerebrovascular disease.
In cases where surgery is necessary, the neurology department may also collaborate with the spinal surgery and brain surgery departments to provide the best possible care for patients. The neurology department may also work with the general surgery department to coordinate care for patients who require procedures such as shunt placement for hydrocephalus.

Headache
Primary headaches like Migraine, tension-type of headache, cluster headache with other TACs( trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias ) are common types of headache.
Other common headaches are chronic daily headache and medication overuse headache
Secondary headaches like those related to neuro infections, tumors, bleeding in the brain, or clogging of veins in the brain due to blood clots need to be ruled out in appropriate clinical situations.
There are 2 treatment considerations: Acute treatment is with pain medications for immediate relief. Long-term therapy is with migraine prophylactic medications and other non-pharmacological measures, depending upon the person’s preference, comorbidities, and risk of adverse events

Migraine
Migraine is one of the commonest neurological problems, characterized classically by the tendency for repetitive headaches.
Migraine commonly affects people in age groups of the second to the fourth decade of life. There can be a familial tendency among migraineurs.
The headache is pulsatile and classically on one side of the head, associated with nausea, and vomiting.
The patient develops an aversion to lights and also wants to remain silent, away from noisy surroundings.
The headache episodes can happen a few times a month to several times a week and can have a significant impact on a patient’s quality of life
Migraine is treated with a combination of medicines, including injectable therapies, and other non-pharmacological approaches depending on patient characteristics

Eye Symptoms of Brain Disease
Eyes are connected to brain by a nerve called optic nerve which carries visual information from eyes to brain.
Several brain diseases can manifest with only eye symptoms and patients may get confused whether to see an eye doctor or a brain doctor.

Stroke
All over the world stroke are 5th leading cause of death and one of the commonest causes of disability. A stroke happen when a certain part of the brain does not receive an adequate blood supply. Symptoms of stroke depend upon which part of the brain is affected and the extent of its damage.
There are several risk factors for stroke, some being controllable and others that are beyond our control. Let’s review this in the following chart. If we pay adequate attention to controllable risk factors, we can prevent stroke and its consequences to large extent.

Tremor
Tremor is an abnormal involuntary movement due to rhythmic contraction and relaxation of muscle groups. It generally involves hands, but may involve head, voice, body, lower limbs also.
It depends on cause. May need withdrawal of certain medications. Pharmacological as well as non pharmacological options can be helpful.

Dementia
Dementia is Neurological disease that affects patient‘s memory, thought process, ability to perform day to day activities and behavior. Many times, Dementia is thought as a normal part of aging process, but scientifically dementia is a disease and not a part of aging process. Worldwide there are 10 million new cases of dementia every year. Actually, Dementia is an umbrella term, of which Alzheimer’s disease is the commonest subtype.

Carpal Tunnel syndrome
Carpal Tunnel syndrome is a medical condition that arises when one nerve in patient’s hand in pressed at wrist. The name of the nerve is Median Nerve. Carpal Tunnel is a narrow passage in the wrist surrounded by bones and ligaments, through which median nerve passes and reaches palm.
